Arda Turan will coach Shakhtar.
Idman.biz reports that according to Marca, the former midfielder of Galatasaray, Atletico and Barcelona is close to being appointed as the head coach of the Ukrainian team.
The 38-year-old specialist will finish the season at Eyupspor, after which he will move to his new club. Under the leadership of Arda Turan, who started coaching in 2023, the Turkish club qualified for the Super League and is currently in 6th place in the tournament table.
However, the Ukrainian press claims that he is not the only candidate for the position of head coach of Shakhtar.
According to reports, there are at least six names on the Miners' list, and one of the potential candidates is Ruslan Rotan, the current coach of Oleksandriya.
The fate of Shakhtar's current head coach, Marino Pusic, remains uncertain. The Bosnian may stay until the end of his contract, which runs until the summer of 2026. The final decision will be made after the current season of the Ukrainian championship and the final of the national cup.
After 28 rounds, Shakhtar is in 3rd place in the Ukrainian championship with 58 points.
