On February 7, a seminar on "Presentation of Methodological Tools of the International Olympic Committee on Mental Health and Safety of Athletes" was held in the administrative building of the National Olympic Committee (NOC).
According to "Report", the press service of the NOC reported that the event was attended by Vagif Aliyev, chief adviser of the sports department of the organization, certified IOC specialist in "Safe Sports", Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation Niyameddin Pashayev, Head of the Education Department of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Orkhan Orujzade, federation representatives and coaches.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, Vagif Aliyev provided information on methodological tools on the mental health and safety of athletes. In his speech, the NOC representative spoke about the place and role of "Safe Sports" in sports policy, and the work done in this direction.
Touching upon the importance of educating federations in this area as much as possible, Vagif Aliyev said that methodological tools such as "Protection of athletes from harassment and violence in sports", "Mental health of elite athletes of the International Olympic Committee", "Development of international protection guarantees for adults in sports", "International protection guarantees for children in sports" will be important on this topic. He said that the prepared materials have been translated into Azerbaijani and Russian.
Orkhan Oruczade, Head of the Education Department of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, who spoke at the seminar, noted the importance of the prepared materials and the importance of the mental health and preparation of elite athletes.
The federation representative, who said that the manual would be useful for federations, coaches and doctors, also spoke about the symptoms and changes of mental health. It was noted that the manual will be of great help in observing and eliminating such problems and in providing initial psychological help.
At the end of the event, the questions of the federation representatives were answered.
