Former footballer David Beckham has become the sole owner of the club "Salford", which plays in the fourth division of England (Second League).
Previously, he owned a small share in the club together with his former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, but now he and Neville are the sole shareholders of "Salford".
"Salford", which fought for a place in the play-offs until the end of this season, finished only eighth with 69 points. The fight to move to a higher division will continue for the teams ranked 4-7. The teams that took the first three places advanced to the third division (First League) ahead of schedule.
The new era at "Salford" has begun with the dismissal of many players. Despite the season having just ended, the new management has terminated the contracts of 17 players, including club legend Matthew Lund, who is much loved by fans.
