On May 14, a meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation between the federation's leadership and cycling coaches from various regions of the country.
Idman.biz reports that the main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the tasks, priorities, and development prospects facing the federation this year, as well as to listen to the opinions and suggestions of the coaches.
Sahib Alakbarov, the First Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, who opened the meeting with an introductory speech, provided information about the main goals set for the development of cycling in the new stage, the discovery of promising athletes, the strengthening of the material and technical base, and the restoration of international competitions. He also emphasized the importance of using existing opportunities for the development of sports in the regions.
The coaches who spoke at the event touched upon a number of issues, in particular, they voiced their proposals regarding the shortage of bicycles, the improvement of infrastructure, the involvement of athletes in foreign training camps to gain international experience, and the restoration of inter-school competitions.
During the meeting, there was also a broad exchange of views on initiatives such as the restoration of the "Tour d"Azerbaidjan" race, the creation of a professional cycling team, the increase in the number of female cyclists, and the establishment of a Cycling School in Karabakh.
