Playing chess is officially banned in Afghanistan.
İdman.biz reports that the ruling "Taliban" movement has made this decision.
The decision declares that chess is against Islamic norms. It was stated that it is a gambling game and does not coincide with the religious beliefs of Afghans.
Abasin Mohibi, the former executive director of the Afghanistan Chess Federation, emphasized that no chess competitions are held in the country.
