Azerbaijani UFC fighter Rafael Fiziyev, who competes in the lightweight division, has revealed his experiences after a series of unsuccessful fights.
İdman.biz reports that he confessed in an interview with the Russian "Vestnik MMA" YouTube channel that he was experiencing pressure after three defeats.
"When I start thinking, it just becomes unpleasant: "Damn, I've already lost three times. I haven't tasted victory in a long time." I want to win, I want to defeat someone faster," he said in the interview.
Fiziyev recalled what happened to him in the last matches: "Sometimes, when I think about it, it hurts what happened: "How did I manage to lose three times." But then you start to remember. Two fights against Justin Gaethje. In one of them, my knee was destroyed, after that I couldn't compete for two years, I went through a long recovery process."
Rafael also revealed the reason why he did not receive the status of a participant in the main fight at the UFC tournament to be held in Baku on June 21: "It's not that the main fight was already taken, I just wasn't worthy of it. After all, I have three consecutive defeats. You have to win in this sport, so they didn't give me the main fight. A guy with three consecutive defeats... I don't think it would be very good."
It should be noted that Rafael Fiziyev will face Ignacio Bahamondes (Chile) in the lightweight division as part of the tournament in Baku on June 21.
