Croatian handball player Ivan Horvat, who plays for the "Hard" team, has been disqualified for 26 months for punching his opponent in the face in an Austrian championship match.
"Report" reports that the press service of the Austrian Handball Federation has released information about this.
The incident occurred in the 1/4 final match of the play-off stage between the "Hard" and "Bregenz" teams. Ivan Horvat punched Markus Mahr in the face. Doctors diagnosed the victim with an open fracture of the nose, and he was later operated on.
The decision on disqualification was made by the federation's independent court. The handball player's punishment will be in effect until June 30, 2027.
It should be noted that Ivan Horvat can appeal the decision within 14 days.
