Petr Yan, the number two in the UFC lightweight division from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, has started negotiations regarding a potential fight with his compatriot Umar Nurmukhamedov.
Lent.az reports with reference to Russian media that the athlete proposed via social media that they meet in the cage in the coming months.
"Let's do it. Baku or Abu Dhabi," Yan addressed the representative of the Dagestan school.
Possible venues include two upcoming promotion tournaments: the June 21 Azerbaijan event or the July 26 Emirates fight night.
Yan's last appearance in the cage was in November 2024. The judges unanimously awarded him the victory over Brazilian Figueiredo. This success was the second consecutive one for the former champion.
Nurmukhamedov, previously undefeated, failed to overcome the barrier of the current champion of Georgian origin, Merab Dvalishvili, at UFC 311 in January 2025 and lost on points.
