New record from South African athlete - surpassed Usain Bolt
South African athlete Akani Simbine broke the world record by running 100 meters in less than 10 seconds.
According to APA, the "Track & Field Gazette" reported this.
The athlete managed to do this by running the distance in 9.90 seconds at the "Golden Grand Prix" tournament held in Botswana.
Previously, the record belonged to Jamaican Usain Bolt, who spent 10 seasons at 10 seconds.
It should be noted that Simbine is a silver medalist in the 4x100 m relay at the Paris Olympics.
