The mascots of the III CIS Games to be held in Azerbaijan have been revealed.
QOL.az, referring to Azertac, reports that they were announced to the public at the first press conference dedicated to the III CIS Games.
Energetic, friendly Babir and Leyla are the symbols of the games. Created in the image of the Caucasian leopard, Babir is not just a symbol, but also vividly embodies Azerbaijan's rich nature, strength, and hospitality. This rare animal has inhabited the enchanting corners of our country since ancient times.
It should be noted that the leopard is included in the "Big Five" Program, which includes the protection of 5 fauna species facing the threat of extinction in the Caucasus, the "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the "Red List" of the International Union for Conservation of Nature under the category of "critically endangered species".
We remind that the competitions, which will last from September 28 to October 8, will cover 23 sports. The games will be organized in Ganja, Mingachevir, Gabala, Shaki, Goygol, Yevlakh and Khankendi.
