Agaselim Mirjavadov, the former head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, shared his thoughts on the "Legends Cup", which will be organized with the participation of veteran football players before the mini-football world championship to be held in Baku.
The expert told "Report" that more detailed information about the format of the game will be given in the coming days.
He said that he had never faced Kurban Berdyev, who will be the head coach of the opposing team at the "Legends Cup", as either a coach or a football player before:
"Coaches of clubs participating in the Azerbaijan Premier League will play in this game. The result is not important in such matches. The fans who come to watch the game should relax and see how former football players handle the ball. I have never faced Kurban Berdyev as either a head coach or a football player. I think it will be very interesting."
A member of the AFFA Coaches Committee stated that he is familiar with the squads of the teams:
"I haven't contacted anyone about the tournament yet. But I am familiar with the squads. There will be football players who have been playing in "Neftchi" since 2000. I guess they will provide more detailed information about how and in what format the game will be played in the coming days."
The expert emphasized that it is a good thing that the meeting will be held:
"It's a good thing that this match is held. Because we first played mini-football in the USSR in 1968. We played the games on the site of the current Baku Sports Hall. We played with 1 goalkeeper and 5 field players. Thus, mini-football was first created in Azerbaijan. Later, such games were held in other republics as well. The mini-football tournament was first held in Azerbaijan in 1968. Teams from the Baku area also participated. Even some players were invited to the reserve team of "Neftchi" after that tournament. At that time, there were many small grounds in Baku and the surrounding areas, and people played football more."
A. Mirjavadov also assessed the potential of our mini-football team to become world champion:
"The mini-football world championship will be held in Azerbaijan for the first time. I would like to thank the Azerbaijan Mini-Football Federation for organizing it. I wish our mini-football team success, they can become champions. I have seen the team's game, I like it. We play mini-football very well."
It should be noted that the "Legends Cup" between "Neftchi 2000s" and "Premier League coaches" organized by the Azerbaijan Mini-Football Federation will start on May 19 at 20:00 at the National Gymnastics Arena. Agaselim Mirjavadov will lead "Neftchi 2000s", and Kurban Berdyev will lead the "Premier League coaches" team.
