Aqil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team (born in 2009) under the age of 17, evaluated the performance at the UEFA Development Tournament held in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.
Idman.biz reports that he first shared his thoughts with the AFFA press service regarding the last match (1:2) against the Estonian national team.
Nabiyev stated that his expectation for the match was a victory: "However, at the UEFA Development Tournament, we had to give all 20 players in the squad a minimum of 90 minutes of opportunity. Therefore, we gave a chance to the children who had little playing time in the first two matches. Overall, the advantage was on our side. Unfortunately, we conceded two goals due to individual mistakes. We could not convert the countless opportunities we had into goals. This stems from the shortcomings in the individual qualities and technical skills of the players. We need time to eliminate the problems. However, we do not have time to work on these in the national team. Our work in the national team is based purely on tactical moves. Football players should try to eliminate this problem in their clubs."
He emphasized that U-17 is developing: "This was our second gathering. We felt a big difference between the previous preparation and this gathering. There is progress in the children. I believe that we can achieve better results with these football players. The game with Georgia showed the team's potential. It's just that the children suffer from a lack of international game experience. I hope that everything will go for the better until the qualifying stage matches."
It should be noted that our U-17 national team faced the corresponding age group teams of Moldova (0:1), Georgia (1:0) and Estonia (1:2) in the UEFA Development Tournament.
