Scoring in the 36th round of La Liga in the match against Mallorca (2:1), Kylian Mbappe scored his 40th goal for Real Madrid. Sport24.az reports, citing Squawka, that the 26-year-old Frenchman is the first player in the club's history to score so many goals in his debut season.
Mbappe has 28 goals in La Liga, 7 in the Champions League, 2 in the Spanish Cup, and one goal each in the Intercontinental Cup, the Spanish Super Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
He is also the second player in Spanish football to score 40 or more goals in his debut season. Previously, only Brazilian Ronaldo managed to do this. The Brazilian scored 47 goals in his debut season for Barcelona in the 1996/97 season.
It should be noted that Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo scored 33 goals in his first year with Real Madrid.
