Premier League representatives are in the top 5. "Chelsea" spent the most on defenders.

"Tottenham" – 358.1 million euros, 18 defenders
"Manchester City" – 320.4 million euros, 9 defenders
"Manchester United" – 281.2 million euros, 12 defenders
"Arsenal" – 258.4 million euros, 11 defenders
"Real" is ranked 236th in the world. The Spanish giant spent only 5 million euros on defenders.
This 5 million was paid for Fran Garcia in 2023. The other two defender transfers were free. Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba joined the team as free agents.
It should be noted that Trent Alexander-Arnold will also join Real as a free agent this summer.
