The Council of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has decided to increase the number of teams participating in the Women's World Cup from 32 to 48.
"Report" informs that the press service of the organization has released information about this.
The first Women's World Cup with the participation of 48 teams will be held in North America in 2031. The next tournament, which will be held in Brazil in 2027, will feature 32 teams.
The 2031 tournament will be held in a format of 12 groups. Thus, the total number of games will increase from 64 to 104.
