The final match of the Rome WTA-1000 Masters tournament has been held.
Idman.biz reports that local Jasmine Paolini and American Coco Gauff competed in the decisive match.
Paolini won the second major title of her career in front of her home crowd. She defeated her opponent in both sets - 6:4, 6:2. Thus, Jasmine became the first local tennis player to win in the Italian capital since 1985. 40 years ago, Raffaella Reggi took first place in the Rome tournament.
Note that Paolini will play another final tomorrow in the doubles competition with Sara Errani. Their rivals will be Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens.
