Gurban Berdyev: "We had serious mistakes"

- We won a well-deserved victory. We failed to appreciate some episodes.

- If your defenders had not been injured, could "Turan Tovuz" have finished the season in 3rd place?

- The absence of Denis Marandici, Roderick Miller, and Shahriyar Aliyev seriously affected our game. When one player is missing, you can somehow replace him. Almost the entire defense line was out of order. It took a long time for the incoming players to replace them as well. Before the new year, we almost didn't make any serious mistakes. But in the second half of the championship, we made serious mistakes due to losses.

- Can the season be considered satisfactory for "Turan Tovuz"?

- If they had said at the beginning of the season that you would take 4th place, I would have been satisfied with that. I didn't know the Azerbaijani championship. But based on the course of the championship, I can say that it could have been better. The absence of our main players had a serious impact.

- Your former player from "Rubin" stated in an interview with the Russian press that Kurban Berdyev deserves to be the head coach of "Spartak". What can you say about this?

- Thank you to my former players, they often make such statements. But we have not had any specific talks with any club.
