The summer national cross-country championship was held in Gusar, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation.
According to "Report", Cavid Gurbanov, President of the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation, and Sevda Mirzayeva, Sector Manager of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, spoke at the opening ceremony about the work being done to develop athletics and expressed their belief that the new programs being prepared would yield positive results in this direction.
100 athletes from the capital, as well as Ganja, Barda, Gadabay, Ismayilli, Astara, Siyazan, Shabran, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz and Ordubad competed in the competition. Ordubad athlete Amrah Nagiyev won the title of national champion in the 10 km race among men. Umid Ibrahimov from Ganja won the 6 km distance, and Iskandar Asgarov and Namig Babayev won the 3 and 2 km distances, respectively.
Among women, Anna Yusupova became the national champion again in the 6 km race. Zahra Shiraliyeva, representing Ismayilli, rose to the highest step of the podium in the 4 km, Azari Mammadli in the 2 km, and Gulchin Naghiyeva in the 1 km.
