Washington's Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin has equaled the NHL record for goals scored in a regular season among players aged 39 and older.
Report reports with reference to foreign media that this happened in the match with Pittsburgh.
In the match that ended with a 5:2 victory for the Penguins, the 39-year-old hockey player scored his 44th goal. Thus, he repeated the record set by Gordie Howe in the 1968/1969 season.
It should be noted that A. Ovechkin is the hockey player who scored the most goals in the history of the NHL regular championships.
