Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has stated that he called Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola before the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid (2:1).
QOL.az reports with reference to the British press that he said at the press conference held after the match:
"I called Guardiola this morning before the game against Real. Because I am sure that I owe him a lot for being in this position today. He has been a source of inspiration for me both as a player and as a coach. He also made the decision to invite me to the team as an assistant coach, which allowed me to take the first step on this path. I spent four great years with him at Manchester City and I am grateful to him for that. I will always be grateful because otherwise I wouldn't be here today."
It should be noted that Arsenal defeated Real Madrid on aggregate (3:0, 2:1) (5:1 in total) and reached the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in 16 years. Their opponent in the semi-final will be PSG. The first match will be on April 29 in London, and the return match will be on May 6 in Paris.
