Barcelona president Joan Laporta spoke about negotiations to extend the contracts of Lamine Yamal and Frenkie de Jong. He made a statement about this to the La Vanguardia portal:
"Yamal is a football player with high individual talent. He is also a team player. He feels good here. We easily contact his agent Jorge Mendes. An agreement on contract extension has almost been reached. Now only ratification remains. We pay players according to their abilities. We are not a club that pays high salaries."
Laporta noted that an agreement will also be signed with de Jong as he resolves his personal matters.
Note that Yamal has played a total of 53 games for Barcelona this season, scoring 17 goals and providing 25 assists. De Jong has played 44 games, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
