Another Greco-Roman wrestler from Azerbaijan, Gurban Gurbanov, became the champion of the European Championship held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
According to "Report", the athlete competing in the 82 kg weight category defeated his Hungarian opponent Erik Silvassy.
G. Gurbanov, who won the match with a score of 6:0, climbed to the highest step of the podium. This was the wrestler's first European championship among adults.
It should be noted that earlier freestyle wrestlers won 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze awards. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) became the European champion, Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won silver, Islam Bazarganov (57 kg), Ali Rahimzade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg) and Aghanazar Novruzov (74 kg) won bronze medals.
Among Greco-Roman wrestlers, Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), Nihat Mammadli (60 kg) won gold, Eldeniz Azizli (57 kg) won silver, and Islam Abbasov (87 kg) won bronze. The Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team became the European champion in the team standings. Among women, Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) won a bronze award.
