Five more Greco-Roman wrestlers from Azerbaijan will begin competing today at the European Championship in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
According to "Report", Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), Ulvu Ganizade (72 kg), Gurban Gurbanov (82 kg) and Murad Ahmadiyev (97 kg) will step onto the mat.
Four other Greco-Roman wrestlers will test their strength in the medal matches. Eldaniz Azizli (55 kg) will face Emin Sefershayev (UWW) in the final, Murad Mammadov (63 kg) will compete for a bronze medal against the winner of the Tino Ojala (Finland) - Vitali Yeriomenko (Ukraine) pair, and Islam Abbasov (87 kg) will face the stronger of the Karen Khachatryan (Armenia) - Yaroslav Filchakov (Ukraine) duel. Beka Kandelaki (130 kg) will try to break the resistance of David Ovasapyan (Armenia) in the consolation match.
It should be noted that freestyle wrestlers have previously won 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze awards. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) became the European champion, Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) won silver, and Islam Bazarganov (57 kg), Ali Rahimsade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg) and Aghanazar Novruzov (74 kg) won bronze medals.
The Azerbaijani freestyle wrestling team became the European champion in the team standings. Among women, Jala Aliyeva (57 kg) won a bronze medal.
The continental championship will end on April 13.
