"The reason we couldn't keep the victory until the end in the game against Montenegro was due to fatigue." This was stated by Sevinc Jafarzade, a football player of the Azerbaijan women's national team, in an interview with Sport24.az.
The captain of our team shared her thoughts on the game against Montenegro (1:1) within the group stage of the UEFA Nations League:
"We lost some strength in the match against Lithuania. Both matches were away. We changed two planes and came to Montenegro. We only had two days to recover. Nevertheless, we showed a determined game. Although we took the lead in the match against Montenegro, we unfortunately conceded a penalty. There are some doubts about the penalty episode. Our goal was to win both games and secure our group leadership. Even one point we would win in the match against Lithuania in Baku would take us to League B. We don't lose heart, we continue. Only the draw with Montenegro disappointed me. We conceded a goal due to a momentary carelessness. We don't blame anyone. If there is a mistake, it is all of us. We win together and we lose together. The Montenegro team was very happy with one point. But we were not very happy with one point, even though it was an away game. Our goal was to win."
It should be noted that in the last away match of the 4th group of League C, our national team, which faced Montenegro, missed the victory at the last moment. Although Mane Mollayeva opened the score in the 54th minute, the home team scored an equalizing goal from a penalty in the 90+2nd minute. Our national team will play its last game against Lithuania at home on May 30.
