Inter Miami owner David Beckham has declared former Milan player Paolo Maldini the best defender in football history. Sport24.az reports that he made this statement to CBS Sport.
"When I came to Milan, Pirlo, Nesta, Maldini were playing there. Paolo was the best leader, the best captain, the best defender I've ever seen. Even at 41, he read the game well and had a great view of the pitch."
It should be noted that Maldini became the development director of Milan in August 2018, and a year later he was promoted to the position of technical director. The Italian won the European Manager nomination of the Golden Boy Awards in 2022. In June 2023, he left the position of technical director of the club.
